While Norwich's rebuttal of rumours of a pursuit of Robbie Fowler made headlines yesterday, today it is the turn of fellow Premiership star of the nineties Chris Sutton to be linked with a switch to Norfolk.
Sutton, who left Carrow Road for Blackburn Rovers in a record £5million move in the summer of 1994, will be out of contract at Scottish giants Celtic next summer, and is may well be keen to return to his roots with his young family, according to the Eastern Daily Press. He moved to Parkhead from Chelsea for £6million in 2000, just a year after moving to Stamford Bridge for £10million.
The 33-year-old's agent, John Viola, moved swiftly to deny talk of a return to Blackburn as "utter rubbish" today, but did not condemn speculation of a return to the yellow and green shirt he graced both in defence and attack. Sutton has filled a number of roles in a successful spell in Glasgow, but has featured only 10 times this term under new boss Gordon Strachan, and has yet to be offered a new deal.
