Ashton has been strongly linked with a move to Wigan Athletic this week, but those in charge at Carrow Road have other ideas.
At a press conference at the club's Colney training base this morning, the Canaries manager again felt the need to personally dismiss the speculation, as he did a few weeks ago when West Ham were linked with 21-year-old Ashton.
"There's nothing in it," said Worthington. "It's just you looking for something to write about. There have been no approaches."
Wigan boss Paul Jewell admitted an interest in Ashton but has already stated his doubts that City would sell a player whose goals almost kept the side in the Premiership last season. The Latics need a striker after the sale of Nathan Ellington to West Brom, but it looks like they will have to look elsewhere.
Earlier in the week Norwich chief executive Neil Doncaster had also reiterated the club's desire to keep Ashton, just seven months after they spent a club record £3million on the player to bring him from Crewe Alexandra.
