After a slow start to the season, City have hit their stride under Paul Lambert and moved into the top two for the first time by beating Wycombe 1-0 at the weekend.
Holt said: "I said to the lads in the changing room 'Now we're there, it's all about cementing that position'. We need to keep going and if we can get ourselves further and further away even better. We'll just worry about ourselves.
"It's not a case of what Charlton or Leeds or whoever do - we just have to worry about our own performances, get the results and the league will take care of itself.
"We never looked to catch Charlton, we just wanted to do our own thing and we have. Now if we keep winning we'll stay in the same position and anything else is just a bonus."
