Young striker Chris Martin staked his claim for a regular starting place last night with a brace in an eight goal demolition of Gorleston, but was overshadowed by an impressive debut from new winger Wes Hoolahan.
Hoolahan, seen as the natural successor to fan favourite Darren Huckerby, came on at half time with fellow new signing Sammy Clingan and notched the final goal following a piece of cheeky skill.
Other goalscorers were Matty Pattison, Luke Daley, Darel Russell and Manny Richardson, whose strikes followed a 12-second own goal from Paul Todd. Nathan Thompson scored for the hosts, who were celebrating 125 years of existence.
