Paul Simpson's side faded badly towards the end of last season, having at one stage threatened the automatic promotion spots. They are highly likely to be without their top striker David Nugent, who has been touted for a move to Everton or Sunderland.
Barring any moves for TV coverage, the match will be on Saturday 11th August.
City will follow the clash with their home tie with Barnet in midweek before entertaining Southampton on the 18th.
