Purse, 31, was reported to have been at Carrow Road on Tuesday ahead of sealing a deal to bolster Bryan Gunn's defence. The player himself has been quoted as saying he was pleased to have spoken to Norwich but that the deal is now 'dead in the water' due to the Bluebirds' lack of alternatives.
Gunn should now have some cash to spend on reinforcements following the sale today of David Bell to Coventry. He has until 5pm on Monday to bring in any permanent signings.
