The 26-year-old midfielder is now set to begin talks next week about a possible move to The Premiership new boys.

"If he comes, and it's still a big if, he'll add competition to the centre of the team," Wigan boss PaulJewell told Wigan's website.

"He's big, got an eye for goal, so hopefully we can get him and early next week we can tie up the deal."
