Damien Francis’ time at Norwich looks to be at an end as he was again absent from training at Colney today.
The midfielder is believed to still be in discussions with Wigan Athletic boss Paul Jewell over a £1.5 million move to the JJB Stadium, although neither Wigan nor Norwich have officially confirmed the transfer.
Canaries manager Nigel Worthington suggested today that, the Francis deal aside, there was unlikely to be any more significant action in the transfer market before the end of the August transfer window.
“I’m very happy with the squad we have at this moment in time,” Worthington told the official Norwich City website. He also hinted that any money from the Francis transfer would be put away for a rainy day.
“If we have to get some loans in because of injuries that money will be used for that.”
