Grant admitted his admiration for the striker, but that he didn't know he was on the move, having missed the news while on holiday.
"There's no doubt that he's a top-quality player - one that's obviously very close in my way of thinking, Grant told the EDP. "I always liked him when I played against him after coming to England. He is one of those guys you always have to be careful of. I didn't realise he had asked for a move because I had been away."
Grant did, however seem wary of the potential cost of the 31 year old, saying that the Us were likely to put "a certain value on him".
