This would appear to be another bargain in the transfer market as Helveg played every one of Denmark's games in their run to the quarter finals of Euro 2004.
Nigel Worthington spoke of his delight in capturing Helveg's signature: "I am delighted to get Thomas Helveg on a contract at Norwich City. It shows the gradual progress of the club in being able to attract such a player to Carrow Road, to have that level of knowledge and experience at the club is a great boost to us all."
Helveg described Norwich as 'home' as he was obviously liked what he saw in sunny Norfolk.
I'm very pleased to be here. After my 10 years in Italy it was nice to have the opportunity to come to England.
"I have chosen the right team. It has a great atmosphere - it felt like I was coming home. I hope I can repay some of the faith the manager has shown in me.
"I feel sure we will succeed together. It's going to be a great challenge for me and the rest of the squad to play the best teams in England."
Rooney's View
Fantastic signing, any player who has 10 years of experience defending in the Serie A is a healthy addition to the squad.
Helveg also has versitility, being able to play on both the right hand side of defence and in midfield.
Can anyone tell me the last time we signed someone from Inter Milan? (answers on a postcard)
All in all another satisfactory day in the transfer market for Sir Nig.
