Reports over the weekend suggesting that ex-Holland international Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink watched part of the Norwich - Blackpool game from the Carrow Road Directors' Box have bolstered rumours he will join the Canaries.
With Norwich boss Glenn Roeder continually bemoaning the lack of a striker with physical presence, and his side's repeated failure to convert chances into goals, the veteran former Chelsea, Leeds and Charlton man would certainly fit the bill.
Hasselbaink is embroiled in a dispute with former club Cardiff City, to whose Ninian Park ground Norwich travel for their next match, but is available on a free transfer. At his advanced age, he is likely to still command a decent wage, but he scored nine times for the Bluebirds last season and could expect, on current form, a hatful of chances as a Canary.
Roeder has been strongly linked with Rosenborg's former Tottenham and Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Steffen Iversen, but have yet to have a bid accepted.
