Lewis, 19, has played in all five of Morecambe's matches in their first season in the Football League, including spectacular away victories at Championship sides Preston and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Carling Cup.
The youngster was on standby for the last England match but, having represented his country at all junior levels, will now officially have the opportunity to step up.
