Marshall plot thickens

Celtic goalkeeper David Marshall may remain at Parkhead after his agent piped up about the player's future over the weekend.

In contrast to the words of the player himself, who has intimated that a lower club with potential to progress and for regular first team action would be ideal, money man Willie McKay believes a new deal could be signed with the Bhoys.

Interestingly, Hibernian boss John Collins has failed with a bid, but McKay doesn't expect the Edinburgh side to be able to match the wages offered to young Celtic reserves.

If Strachan is paying inexperienced back-up players more than fellow SPL sides will pay first teamers, it would be unlikely that many would be prepared to leave Glasgow. With Artur Boruc clearly the main man in Strachan's side, Marshall will have to make a decision as to whether playing or earning will be better in the long run.
