The Canaries were trounced 7-0 at Manchester City on Saturday, leaving them stuck in the Barclays Premier League's bottom three.
It was a sixth defeat from 10 opening league games and resulted in a section of disillusioned Norwich fans calling for Hughton's dismissal.
Martin, though, insists the Norfolk club are all united in their attempts to turn the season around, with West Ham set to visit Carrow Road for Saturday's late kick-off.
"We are all behind the gaffer. That still remains the same," Martin told BBC Radio Norfolk.
"We have not been good enough, the manager will get a lot of stick for that and so will we.
"It is up to us to take some responsibility and accountability for what has gone wrong."
Scotland defender Martin feels Norwich must use the harsh lessons of the "humiliating" defeat to produce a positive response in front of the live television cameras this weekend.
"I am sure we're going to take (criticism) all week until the next game," Martin added.
"When we win we deserve the praise and by the same token after that we deserve what we get from the media, fans and ultimately ourselves. We are embarrassed and hurt."
For the moment, at least, Hughton has support from both his squad and in the boardroom - although chairman Alan Bowkett last month warned the directors were expecting a top-10 finish at the end of the season following an unprecedented summer spending spree of more than £20million.
The former Newcastle and Birmingham manager is in no doubt he remains the right man to take the club forward, having last season overseen an unbeaten 10-match run and an eventual 11th-placed finish.
"We have to stick together," he said.
"We have a match this Saturday that becomes a bigger game now, not just because of the defeat, but the manner of the defeat.
"We have to prove we are a good enough side, that we can get up this league and get the points and the only way we do that is on the football pitch."
Norwich could have club-record signing Ricky van Wolfswinkel back from a foot injury for the visit of the Irons.
Scotland winger Robert Snodgrass missed the City match after suffering concussion in last week's Capital One Cup defeat at Manchester United.
England Under-21 midfielder Nathan Redmond will also be assessed following a hip problem.
