Canaries striker Leon McKenzie was somewhat surprisingly named as one of the strikers in the Coca Cola Championship Team of the Week.
Few could deny that the former Crystal Palace and Peterborough speed merchant put in a lively performance that might have brought a goal but for some excellent goalkeeping from Coventry's debutant Stephen Bywater. But with Dean Ashton notching City's solitary goal in the first half, and then hitting the woodwork in the second, McKenzie's selection seems somewhat bizarre. Similarly, a scan of yesterday and today's newspapers saw several nominations for Sky Blues hitman Gary McSheffrey, who created their equaliser, and Ashton but little mention of McKenzie.
Alongside Leon in the select line-up was Mamady Sidibe of Stoke City, whose side drew a blank at home to newly-promoted Sheffield Wednesday. Leeds United's David Healy, a former Norwich target, can be justifiably upset that his match-winning two-goal salvo failed to impress the judges, as might the likes of Leroy Lita and Nicky Forster, who marked their debuts for Reading and Ipswich respectively with goals.
Elsewhere in the select side there was no place for Dean Marney depsite his eye-catching performance, the right hand side dominated by Sheffield United's Phils, Jagielka and Ifill, who helped their team to the top of the table with a late demolition of Leicester City. Southampton's Antti Niemi got the nod in goal, while promoted sides Luton and Hull saw defenders Kevin Foley and Leon Cort included following impressive showings at the higher level.
One player who City will obviously have to look out for is Crewe's David Vaughan, who will be in the side to visit Carrow Road on Tuesday night and was also in the team of the week.
