South African midfielder Matty Pattison is a target for new Norwich boss Glenn Roeder, according to the Sunderland Echo.
The 21-year-old Newcastle player, who has yet to feature under Sam Alardyce, played 15 times for the Toon when Roeder was in charge. He would provide competition in the middle of the park as Roeder looks to bolster his options in a bid to turn around his side's fortunes.
City were linked with a swoop for striker Shola Ameobi at the weekend, but apparently Allardyce is reluctant to let the player out as he is needed to cover for Obafemi Martins during the African Nations Cup, and as an alternative 'big man' to Mark Viduka.
