No offers exciting Nigel, but Green situation under wraps

The future of Robert Green as a Norwich City player remains in doubt despite superficial attempts by Nigel Worthington to gloss over the situation.

As ever with the Canaries boss, what is not said is often more revealing than what is said, particularly given his recent inclination to answer almost every question put in front of him. On the face of it, Green would appear to be staying, but there is no denial of the words of the player's agent that a move to Portsmouth would be interesting.

“Robert's agent has spoken to me on the situation and his agent is simply trying to do his job for his player," he told the Evening News. “Portsmouth has been mentioned but once again we've heard nothing from the football club. I have spoken to Robert - what was said is between Robert and I."

Worthington also hinted that there have been further bids turned down for other players, likely to have been the hot commodity that is Dean Ashton.

“At the moment there are no offers on the table that excite Norwich City as regards any player.”

The key phrase in all of this for worried supporters, it would seem, is 'at the moment'.
