The first set of loan rumours since the closing of the transfer window has seen Peter Grant apparently lusting after Wigan Athletic's Fitz Hall.
Hall, 27, has become surplus to requirements at the JJB since Chris Hutchings replaced Paul Jewell at the end of last season. Titus Bramble has been brought in to add to the Latics' defensive resources, and a good start to the season means Hall is likely to stay down the pecking order.
The centre-back, nicknamed 'One size' because 'one size fitz hall' (boom boom!) is wanted by a host of Championship clubs, with former boss Iain Dowie, currently at Coventry but himself being coveted by managerless Leicester, said to be keen to be reunited with the man he plucked from non-league Chesham while in charge of Oldham. Dowie later took Hall into the Premiership at Crystal Palace, where the pair were relegated alongside the Canaries in 2005.
Grant is keen to add defensive reinforcements with Jason Shackell out injured. He has taken former Manchester City defender Lucien Mettomo on trial, but could do with more options to put pressure on Shackell and Gary Doherty for their places.
