Chris Sutton, released by Birmingham at the end of last season, has joined Aston Villa on a free transfer for the rest of the season.
Sutton, who had been linked on several occasions with a return to Carrow Road, becomes the third former Celtic player to join Martin O'Neill at Villa Park.
O'Neill had little time to buy new players when he joined Villa shortly before the end of the transfer window, and his need for a striker has become more acute since Luke Moore suffered a recurrence of a shoulder injury at Chelsea at the weekend, which could rule him out for the season.
Sutton was thought at one stage to be keen on a move back to Norwich, but former boss Nigel Worthington stated his desire to bring in young and hungry players. Before signing Dion Dublin.
