After much talk over whether or not Nigel Worthington would field Dean Ashton in the FA Cup and risk losing value on a potential transfer, the decision appears to have been made for him.
Ashton is absent from the squad handed in to the referee, reportedly with a calf strain. His place in the side goes to Peter Thorne. The late withdrawal comes after Worthington had assured fans that Ashton would play and he was unconcerned about tittle-tattle linking him with a move away. It will do little to allay fears of a big bid from the Premiership.
On a more positive note, youngster Rossi Jarvis will start his first senior match after signing professional forms in the week. Ryan's younger brother replaces the injured Jurgen Colin at right back and will have to deal with England hopefuls Matthew Etherington and Paul Konchesky on the West Ham left.
Jason Jarrett also comes into the team after returning from a loan spell at Plymouth Argyle. He will hope to use the opportunity to establish himself in the absence of Youssef Safri.
Kick off is at 3pm at Carrow Road, with a place in the FA Cup Fourth Round at stake, as well as revenge for the Canaries for their defeat at this stage at Upton Park a year ago.
