Damien Francis may be out of favour at the JJB Stadium currently, but his popularity amongst the money men and women at Carrow Road must have grown of late as the Latics' survival netted the Canaries £250,000 of extra transfer revenue.
Francis completed a protracted £1.5million move to unfancied Wigan last summer, with the bonus amount agreed in the unlikely event that Paul Jewell steered his side to Premiership survival. They currently sit in the top half of the table, having never been in any danger of the drop. Consequently, a cheque has landed on the Carrow Road doormat.
“We can confirm we will be receiving the additional money from Wigan as part of the Damien Francis deal," said Chief Executive Neil Doncaster. "The money has already been factored into the budgets for next season.”
