Dean Ashton gave the Canaries a 12th minute lead and they looked to be cruising to a comfortable and important three points when Leon McKenzie doubled the lead 4 minutes later.

However, Kevin Keegans side fought back with goals from Antoine Sibierski and Robbie Fowler before the break.

Fowler then broke Canaries fans hearts with a stoppage time winner for the visitors.

"It's a cruel game," Worthington said after the 3-2 defeat.

"It was the best we have played for a long while. We got two great goals but then sat off them. We threw the game away after working hard.

"Football is a simple game. If something is working for you, keep doing it, but if the ball keeps coming into your box you are doing something wrong.

"I thought Ashton and McKenzie played very well. When we started out we were closing them down and harrying them but we stopped doing that and in the end lost the game."
