It is obvious that Worthington is a big fan of Peter Crouch, and I for one believe it is Norwich's main priority to extend Crouch's loan spell until the end of the current campaign.
Worthington is due to have talks with Aston Villa next week but has admitted that if David O'Leary allows it, he would be delighted to get more of the same from the towering centre forward.
“I have spoken to Peter and Peter would like to stay,” said Worthington. “We would like to do that, he would like to do that as well. It will just be a case of being patient, and seeing what Aston Villa say in the early part of next week.
“We have another week yet, we have another game, as have Villa, so we'll get through that and hopefully early part of the week we'll put a call in and see where we're at.”
Crouch, who has scored 4 times since joining City nearly 3 months ago, has expressed an interest in staying at Carrow Road.
“It's great encouragement to hear from the manager that he wants to keep me,” said Crouch. “I have really enjoyed my time here but I will have to speak to the manager at Villa as well just to make sure. Nothing is signed yet.”
As for Norwich's recent dip in form Crouch believes there is nothing to panic about just yet.
"We have had a couple of dodgy results recently and we have set our standards since I have been here, but I think we have to get a good result against Crewe to get the ball rolling again.”
My biggest worry is that Villa, who are struggling in the Premiership will want to sell Crouch in January and will therefore not allow him to continue at Carrow Road. Let's hope this is not the case and that Peter will be able to assist Norwich in their continuing promotion push.
On the ball.............
