Millwall remain rock bottom of the Championship despite recording their first home win since April.
With travel sick Norwich having lost their last four games on the road and Millwall their last three at home something had to give when the two teams clashed at the New Den.
With December and Christmas fast approaching and Millwall still looking for their first home win of the season they attacked Norwich from the very start of the game.
So much so that Norwich were restricted to one meaningful attack in the first half when Dean Ashton pounced on a loose ball, but Tony Craig's perfectly timed tackled saved the day.
Mayhem ensued from the following bout of corners with the ball bouncing off numerous players in a crowded box with Calum Davenport getting the final strike of the ball only to have his shot blocked by the impressive Alan Dunne on the line and then spirited away.
Barry Hayles then caught the visitors on the break with a powerful run from his own half, skipping tackles on the way, before sliding the ball through to Bruce Dyer who blasted wastefully over.
Millwall played neat and tidy football that gave a lie their rock bottom position in the Championship, but their final ball and shooting left a lot to be desired. Indeed in the final third they looked like a team lacking confidence in front of goal.
David Livermore came closer still when he hit a ferocious shot from a well-worked free-kick forcing Robert Green to tip over just after the break.
The shot fired Norwich into action and they dominated the next fifteen minutes, but Dunne and Livermore were inspired and refused to buckle to the pressure and on seventy minutes the home side took the lead when Norwich failed to deal with Craig's corner and Elliott tucked the ball home.
